House Bill 7045 transitions McKay Scholarship students into the Family Empowerment Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities. Additionally, House Bill 7045 makes the following changes:
- Removes the prior year in public school eligibility requirement.
- Expands the use of funds beyond just private school tuition and fees. Eligible students will be able to use their funds as an education savings account.
- Families must renew each year through their scholarship funding organization.
- An account may be closed after 2 years of inactivity.
