We knew we had to find a different school for our son when we noticed a lack of both understanding and compassion needed in handling our child’s emotional needs while recognizing his unique personality without judgment. Our son dealt with constant bullying and struggled with making friends. He also felt tremendous pressure while taking the required FCAT at the time. At Atlantis Academy the teachers really set the stage for our child’s transition through their compassion and willingness in providing what was needed for his success. Our son has shown tremendous confidence in all aspects of his abilities for what is necessary to proceed with life.

We found that public school was not caring or willing to make small changes to help my children. My child was labeled a disciplinary problem and would take away his recess because he couldn’t sit still in class. In first grade he would cry and beg me not to send him to school. My older child was just swept aside in public school when he was not able to learn their way. When we first visited the school in 2011 the warmth and caring atmosphere, the sense of caring, the different way of learning stood out to us. Our children were able to learn in their own way and thrive, and be happy in school, develop healthy relationships, taught it was ok to not be the same as everyone else. I cannot thank the teachers past and present enough for all they have done for me and my family, they all helped us through some difficult times, they were and still are there for my children, I will always be forever grateful and they hold a very special place in our hearts.
